On May 6th 2015 a minke whale washed up on a sandy beach of Vogur on the Reykjanes Peninsula. It is uncertain why this minke whale stranded but a Navy ship came through a few days before, which might have been emitting high intensive sonar. Without an autopsy it is just speculation, hopefully the Marine Institute will  give some answers. It is very sad news because this minke whale is one known very well to us working on Faxaflói. A minke whale called Happy seen every year since 2007. A regular that unfortunately won't be regularly anymore.
